IR (Infrared) is located in a part of the electromagnetic spectrum that is invisible to the naked eye. As such tests, this module may be disturbing. A nice little trick to help, take a digital camera or smartphone camera and point the camera to the LED as it lights up. Most digital cameras show a soft purple light from the LED.

2. The sensitivity setting and reduced susceptibility to interference make this module an ideal candidate for any line robot.
3. With a low 5V input, the module is output LOW when a white object is detected, while it does not detect. With an integrated potentiometer, the sensitivity of the detector can be varied.
4.  This allows the module to be adjusted to specific materials and over different distances.
